Hamill Road Over/ Underpass

Hi everybody. I'm working on a story about Hamill Road and trains blocking the crossing. Is there anyone who has signed this petition who has been involved in a medical emergency and had to find another way to CHI Memorial because a train was stopped on the tracks? If so, please e-mail me at [email protected].

This has been needed and wanted for years. Please consider for the safety of the community as well as delays it daily creates.

This is a critical issue for emergency services to Memorial Hixson.

This is a critical path for many people because of the location of the Hospital (emergency room), Fire Department and Police Services.

Please make this change. Work flow, school transportation, and especially ambulance care is affected every day in a negative way by this track.

Hixson in and around Big Ridge is growing with more people and houses popping up every month. Glad to see our city reps. are attempting to address this problem.

There is a serious amount of traffic on Hamill Rd the trains run very frequently & often stop completely. I have had to stop/wait &/or turn around to take alternate route to get home or go out. Since I live there at the base of ridge off Hamill I deal with this almost everyday, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Also, it’s dangerous for those in the area that need to go to the hospital there on Hamill.

I am so happy to see others doing something towards our problem on Hamill Rd. I had to turn around 4 times in one day due to a train stopped on the tracks crossing Hamill Rd. I was excited to move onto Gann Store Rd Because of the convenience of everything. Can’t say that now.

It’s a necessity and SHOULD BE CONSIDERED.

This is desperately needed

I lived on Cassandra Smith for several years. That was about 20 years ago. It was bad then and now I avoid it at all costs.

The waiting time on the train is ridiculous at times, specially when the train stops and blocks the way. It would be very helpful to have something builded, perhaps on those empty lots that are for sale? It could also help to have a light or something on the intersection with Cassandra Smith. It gets almost impossible to travel around there when the school is out or in the mornings since there are always people who do not understand if they block the corner traffic can't move in any direction, specially when the buses need to turn. Thank you!

Been stuck there more than 15-20 minutes. TWICE saw a train pass and the gates did NOT come down!

The train makes me late many times. I have been stuck there for more than 15 min an that is too long. An overpass is badly needed as there is also a hospital near by . In any emercency the time delay due to the train blocking the way could be deadly.

Something needs to be done now. It makes me late a lot of times. And, people need to get to the hospital and are held up.
