Halton School Board UV Lights Regulation/Resolution

Yes, we all know that parents make theirs kids go out and play in the sun. Exposure to the sun can be extremely beneficial, it can get you active, and healthy. However, the sun contains ultraviolet lights which are damaging to skin in large amounts, causing skin tumors, and in more severe cases; skin cancer. Schools are not taking precautions for these effects. We kids have been forced outside during days that contain high UV levels. This can cause sunburn which accumulates finally causing extremely high cases of skins cancer. Skins cancer is the number one most common cancers found in Canada. Together, let's put a stop to this! My resolution: Having indoor recesses when UV rays are high is a great way to prevent overexposure. Another possible solution is promoting sunscreen usage and providing sunscreen lotion from either student donations or student council.
