Open up this beautiful trail and people would be more than happy to pay a fee to keep up with the stairs

I would be glad to volunteer to help clean up the trail / stairs.

Could the state buy the stairs and turn it in to a state park and make it accessible to everyone? A small fee could be charged for upkeep on the stairs.

I would love to hike these stairs. Would pay for the opportunity to do so.

I have always wanted to climb these stairs. And now, having lost my sister who also wanted to climb the steps, I want to do it for her.

These stairs are a national treasure, in a number of ways, both for people to enjoy and appreciate the incredible natural beauty of Hawaii by making it accessable and to appreciate and remember WWII, and the effect it had on these islands. Please reopen the stairs to the public. Thank you.

It is important that these stairs, which represent history, be maintained and accessible to responsible individuals who will not only preserve the stairs, but the surrounding environment as well for today and future generations.

As long as the stairs are maintained and safe there is no reason this should be closed to the public. This is a amazing way to see Hawaii!

I , John McKenna, of Brooklet, GA, humbly petition those in authority to allow for the safe and responsible hiking along the Haiku Stairs.

No one is going to climb these stairs PLANNING to get injured. In general I believe people will be careful and really just want to enjoy the view. Please re-open the beautiful Haiku stairway!

This is one of the main reasons my fiance and I wanted to stay on Oahu. We hope to not do it illegally if we can avoid it.

There's also ridge hikes on Oahu that are perfectly legal and more dangerous as there are no railings and stairs, but the lure of doing things illegally has great sway.

The view looks amazing!! This could be an amazing opportunity for tourism if run properly, it would also keep people from feeling the need to access it illegally and creating dangerous situations for rescuers.
