Reopen Haiku Stairs

This hike could be a wonderful educational opportunity if used correctly! Charge $ to hike and also get a guide at the bottom to tell people how the stairs came about! I'm pretty sure people would still pay to do this hike and the hiking fee could help cover the parking lot cost! I believe making this hike legal would actually eliminate problems rather than make more!! Thanks for supporting the re-opening of the Haiku Stairs!!

seems like legalizing entry would be simple. charge 50 bucks a person, build a parking lot away from residents, use fees and donations to pay for parking lot, insurance and maintenance.

This is one of the safest hikes in hawaii. If they legalized the hike, I believe there would be legal parking and a legal access to the stairs, thus solving all the resident's complaints.

I helped maintain the equipment in the CCL building 1964-67. Everyone that is healthy enough to climb the stairs should have the opportunity to view the island from this vantage point.

This is such a beautiful and amazing place by what I've seen in pictures. It would be a shame to close it. I've seen it on bunch of top 100 places to visit.

If the concern has been legal action in case of accident or maintenance fees, then instead of closing this trail it would probably be more profitable to get visitors to sign a waiver and pay a fee. I would love to climb this one day

if they opened them to the public they could do what yellowstone does with half dome and limit how many people can climb them in one day
