I agree that Haiku stairs should be re-opened. It is much less dangerous than hiking Mt. Rainer, or many other sites and they are all open. It is foolish and irresponsible for the government to "push" people to do something illegal that does not need to be. Open it, require a hiking permit like some of the other trails and hike at your own risk.

Maybe not $100 for out of state travelers but definitely some kind of charge to help maintain and keep this hike because I know a lot of people who want to hike this, myself included. And if opened I'm sure many people would be willing to pay to hike it.

Please open the stairs, and utilize a pay for permit system that would fund repair cost, preserve, and allow access to an island treasure.

Help us save a piece of history in Oahu, please sign the petition. In El Paso they have a something similar that was once a tram to a Radio/TV antenna and they have made it a state park attraction and bring in money for the state by taking people up the mountain in the tram for a set fee. The monies received pay the workers and maintain the tram. Let's get this done for the "Haiku Stairs" we can save them. Please HELP!

It would be a travesty to lose such a beautiful and historical hike. Please save the stairs for future generations.

I'm going to Hawaii for the first time in my life this summer, and after seeing images of the stairs, I would be devastated if this was lost to everyone who hasn't seen it yet!

It is too meaningful, beautiful and amazing to be sadly wasted due to restrictions. Humans deserve to experience this stairs as part of manmade beauty and it deserves us to be park of it.

an exit with a roadside monument and parking lot can be built right on h3. this would only allow access up the stairs from there cutting off the neighborhood below as to not disturb the residents down there. there could be a charge to go up that could take care of people to run it and the reimbursement of the intial build.
Please reopen the trail!
I support the reopening of the stairs..
