Remove IV Elections part D. - Passed in 2020, this bylaw unintentionally severely restricts potential President candidates. In the history of the club, 1/2 of Presidents did not meet the requirement of serving on the board of directors within the past six years.
- limiting volunteers is not good for the health of the club

Add: The club books can be audited at any time and must be audited once a year prior to the annual meeting by a qualified accountant and/or a past treasurer.

I presume there is a functioning finance committee of the board to provide oversight such as this as there is in most non-profit organizations
The reason for this was not for financial reasons, it was the ensure continuity of the board.

I'm not sure where this concern came from. Nobody brought this concern to the GVC Board for discussion prior to posting this online petition, so it's hard to judge without hearing both sides of the argument. The idea of this section of the bylaws was not to limit volunteers; anyone can run for an elected position except for the President of the chapter. The club voted last time to enact this requirement strictly to ensure a stable transfer of knowledge within the Board, and ensure that the President would be a known entity, having served on the Board within the previous 6 years. I cannot support this petition without some discussion first.
