This petition is to save the Little Free Library located in the Green Trails neighborhood of Lisle, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). For anyone not familiar with the concept, it is a “take a book, leave a book” location where anyone can share books and magazines with their neighbors.
Our library was initially installed in August and was presented to the Green Trails Improvement Association Board of Directors and appeared to have their full support. Shortly after featuring the library in the September neighborhood newsletter, the property manager requested that we remove the library.
We need your support in asking the Green Trails Improvement Association Board of Directors to withdraw their request to remove the neighborhood’s first Little Free Library from its’ current location. The library was built for the benefit of everyone in the community, and is enjoyed by countless adults and children daily. The library should be granted specific approval to remain in the Common Area per Article VII, Section 4 of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Green Trails Improvement Association.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the kindness people have shown for our little library. It is humbling to see that this space means as much to you as it does to me, and this momentum belongs entirely to the neighborhood.

I first saw one of these in Historic Charleston SC. I thought it was really cool so I was so happy to see one in our neighborhood. GT Assn would be wrong to remove it.
I was so pleased to find the Little Free Library a block from my home. There are several in Naperville and I was excited to have on in Lisle. We should have more of them, not less!
I was having a bad day yesterday and specifically went to the Little free Library to cheer me up. I feel like this boxes is a great reminder of what a wonderful and special community I live in. Sharing books is also good for the environment. Don't take away this gift
My daughter LOVES this Little Free Library! She looks forward to it on our walks and bike rides - she would miss it a ton! I feel it encourages the young to read and find new books, even while just out for a walk. Please keep it!
I am also a LFL Steward in Minnesota and there are NO restrictions on us where we are located. This is a service to the community at no charge to the city, why force it's removal?

Don't ban the Little Free Library because something might happen! If there is a problem in the future with upkeep or conten, then you should consider what to do. Give the Library and America a chance!
