Picture yourself driving up Post Rd or headed to the golf course on Portsmouth Ave. You see the big, old trees that are a hallmark of New England and our quintessential, small town. Now picture all of those trees gone! EverSource is in the process of tagging and cutting down trees that interfere with the power lines. They have already cut down trees all along Portsmouth Ave and Cemetery Lane. There are over 30 trees on Post Rd marked for cutting in only 1/2 mile stretch.

Trees that are on town property were approved for cutting by the Selectmen and those on private property were approved by the homeowner. EverSource will tell you that the trees are diseased, a hazard, and cost the town money by having to trim the branches. These are trees that are old and beautiful and should not be cut down. If you are in agreement, please sign the petition so your voice can be heard!

I just looked at the total and my jaw basically hit the floor because I honestly thought I was just yelling into the void when I started this. It is wild seeing so many people actually care about these trees and the character of our town. I need to figure out the best way to get this in front of the board now so keep checking back for updates.

There are likely a number of people who would volunteer their time, skill, and/or money to care for these trees, trim them away from power lines, etc. in fact I'm positive there are! Please don't just kill the trees in an effort to save money.

Let's be reasonable. If you have a cavity in one tooth, the dentist don't extract all 32 teeth, right? Please trim where needed, but don't cut down the trees blindly

Trim the trees only! the total removal leaving the stump looks like devastation! check out Portsmouth Ave by the Smith's fields. There is no more buffer-Strategic limb cutting makes MORE sense- and allows the natural barrier. I am NOT for this.

Utility companies are being very aggressive with what they call "non-compliant" vegetation. NH is one of the states with the largest tree cover which is being targeted with this program to cut down trees rather than trim. Unless we act seriously to save the trees, Eversource will continue to savage our picturesque and quaint town.

After the rather chaotic and destructive way Eversource handled their end of "improvements" on Caswell and Bayshore, we're skeptical of their work ethic when it comes to roadside maintenance. Opting to simply whack down all of our trees, they should be held to much higher standards, one of which would include strategic pruning.

I'll go out on a limb here and say save the trees! Trimming is much better viable option. It may be more costly but I know Eversource has the money based on the obscene electric bills I receive every month.

i just finished planting 39 trees that cost me $1600 just for trees additional $300 to rent augers and $300+ for soil and mulch to replace all the shrubs you mowed down in my backyard.! This took me many days and hours with my arthritic hands to complete! Stay off of my propeety @ 68 maple dr greenland NH!!! You cut trees that created sounded barrier as well at top of hill and i can see cars going by on highway and cant hear myself think when im in my backyard. You have ruined my property!

Only diseased weak trees should be chopped instead of trimmed
