Gray Station Depot Acquisition

Gray Station Better Hometown, in cooperation with the City of Gray Downtown Development Authority, PLAN’s Cultural Arts & Leisure Committee, and the History & Heritage organization, is working toward the acquisition of the Gray Station Depot from Norfolk Southern for the benefit of the City of Gray.
The Depot is more than just a building we pass by each day- it is without question the birthplace of the City of Gray. We would be remiss to leave it to its eventual peril if not taken care of properly. The final goal of the acquisition is to have the authority to nominate it for and have it listed on the National Trust’s Register of Historic Places, submit a TE Grant application for the restoration of its exterior and rehabilitation of its interior, and eventually reopen it to the public as the City of Gray Welcome Center & History Museum.
This petition is for the citizens of the City of Gray and Jones County to show their support in having Gray's City Council pursue the acquisition of the Gray Station Depot from Norfolk Southern in the year 2012.
