Politically correct is a terrible thing to teach. Give these young adults the proper recognition for a job dont to near perfection. This is your last chance to make a positive impact on their lives. Stop following the sissy rules and stand up for what is right. KH

These students who have busted their backs to achieve the goals they set for themselves should be recognized separately, that is a huge achievement in itself

I feel like the phrase “remaining students” is a bit unfair and makes honors students seem somewhat superior in a way. When in reality, we are all in school for the same reason, and some kids are just much better at learning and dedicating themselves to what they learn at a higher level. But if the “remaining students” made it to graduation, they shouldn’t be treated any different than those who have “Cum laude” before their name. Congrats to those of you with those achievements, but there could be better word choice for the rest of us that couldn’t grip onto the higher side of education, and fully dedicate ourselves, as hundreds of other people did. I believe the students with top honors etc. should get their recognition no matter what. But in the process of deciding what the rule will be for the order of graduation this year, other students shouldn’t feel any type of belittlement because they couldn’t have the same path that the rest of their class had. But what do I know, GCHS has been grounds for plenty of bias opinions in many different situations.

If announcing ranks is so unfair and unequal, don’t recognize a valedictorian or a salutatorian either. I hope this is just a rumor, or administration is about to hear from a lot of angry kids and parents.

graduation last year went perfectly smooth; if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. GCHS takes the lazy route whenever possible and it’s been wildly disappointing to see the effort the school makes to showcase the kids who work hard slowly deteriorating over the last 4 years. and if the school REALLY wants to have a talk about inequality, look at the money they give to the band in comparison to what they give to choir and orchestra. please let those of us who aren’t in sports or band feel like our sleepless nights actually mattered, because we deserve to be recognized for once too.

For those people reading this message... they are STILL announcing our awards. They just arent doing it within groups. They will still say Cum Laude before our names and we still get that recognition. Also, our VALEDICTORIAN is in band and our SALUTATORIAN is in band and sports so this whole message is being bias towards getting signatures. Thank you for listening.
