Gilmer High School should DEFINATELY hold off the reconstruction of the football field. Students and teachers alike have given too much to postpone the graduation of the students of Gilmer High.

Please let these students have this day to be proud of their accomplishments. There is plenty of time for the field to be prepared enough for the ceremony.

They used the field years ago I don't know why they ever started using the gym however kids worked hard to Graduation day and should not have to be limited to pick 2 or 3 to come watch them on this day. Way more important then football but Gilmer has always put football over everything.

I play football and yes there is joy in a new field by I'm also a senior in high school who would want to graduate in a proper manner. Please honor those hard working students who have warned their special day!

When I graduated, class of 2014, that ceremony on the football field wasn't about me. It wasn't for any of the kids in the chairs out on the field. It was for the families that were sitting in the bleachers who had watched us and cheered us on our 12 - 13 years of schooling. It was one of the last big events that my grandmother, who passed away September 2015, got to witness. It was a moment that my parents got to see, after tears shed and hours spent working our rears off to get to that field. It was a moment for my best friend, who was an upcoming senior, see her best friend finish something so important. Having graduation in a gymnasium where the number of seats are limited makes it difficult on students and family to witness such a big stepping stone in life, together. Had we had our graduation in the gymnasium, my grandmother could not have attended my brother and my graduation because of her wheel chair. I agree it's important to do something to stay physically active, but thinking that football is more important than catering to not only your students, but for their families as well, is actually really stupid. A high school diploma is more important, in the long run, than a football helmet. I know some people choose not to walk on graduation day, but to some people, it's a reminder that they actually accomplished something. That they fought whatever demons they faced while they were in school, survived, and made it to such a prestigious event, that a lot of people don't have the privilege to attend. Because, believe it or not, young adults tend to need a reminder about how they faced so many struggles, but made it through. To whom ever reads this, I urge you to not take this joy from the class of 2016. I know, for me, graduation was more than just for my parents, or my grandma, or my best friend. Seeing peers that have mental disabilities walk across that stage and be cheered on like they were a celebrity was so amazing. Seeing my brother walk ac

Graduating classes have graduated in the gym before. Have them do it there. Either way I think graduation in general is more important than football.

I think the kids have work so hard to graduate and not many students make it this far. I feel that all family and friends should be able to attend something that happens once in their lifetime. They have worked so hard to get to be where they are now. The football field can wait but graduation can't wait. I was so looking forward for all the excitement that my kid and other kids would have to see all their friends and family members to support them in their day. Graduation 2016
