Graduates Rejecting Absurd Dates

Change the graduation date! My kid should be able to have her graduation at a normal time before headibg to college. Alot of kids will miss attending if its post poned so long!!!

I support my granddaughter, Kallyna, and all of the other students as well ! A graduation ceremony is so much more meaningful when it occurs shortly after the end of the school year ! This is a huge accomplishment and delaying the ceremony does cause significant issues i.e. low attendance, less enthusiasm, etc.

The fact that we have to ‘graduate’ in September or October is absurd and simply results in low attendance, enthusiasm, and pride

thought this was wrong from the start, it's always been June, dont know why it was changed in the first place, I will be expecting to see my Son graduate in 3 yearIN JUNE as it was and should be

Can’t go to graduation if I get accepted to a school in Toronto, with the osap cuts I won’t have the money for a ride back just to walk across a stage. Please change the date so I can walk across!

Give them there diploma,s within a month of graduating they have worked hard for it.

Graduated out of this school board. It is pretty ridiculous , seems pointless so many months after.

I’m graduated from SCS in the eighties. Commencement ceremonies were in November the year following grad and very poorly attended.

The issues that come along with late graduation dates subtract too much from the experience, leading students that at one time felt a sense of pride in graduating now ask themselves if it's worth taking a study break from college/university, or taking time off work. For some, the occasion looses so much meaning that they can't be bothered to pause their Netflix binge session for the occasion. What's the point of holding a late ceremony that nearly a third of the graduates will not attend? Why not just do it right?

Every student deserves the right to be present at their graduation.

Finally yes!!!! It’s always in the middle of week close to exams and very hard for parents to take the days off and get the stundent home in time and get them back to regular classes without missing important things! Should be a Time with your family of celebrations but instead it is rushed over

I think this is a very important issue for high school students. This is a big life event and it should be held when most people will be able to atten and not be worrying about college classes or work the next day or coming back to the country to participate. Thank you.

it would be more sensible to have the grad students graduate in June so they can go to college/university with out having to come back to have a cemetery. I didn't go to my for that reason

I’m leaving the country and when I graduate I’m not flying back just to receive my diploma in person for a night walk across a stage and shake hands when they can do that just after exams or the beginning of summer not 3 months after people leave

Some students are also leaving the country for post secondary and therefore absolutely cannot make it back for grad!
