To whom it may concern, My youngest son Cody Jones, who is twelve, brought up the topic of hunting on Sunday, and he was wondering why we couldn't, and how to fix it so we could hunt deer on Sunday. I told him I could not agree more that I would also like to hunt deer on Sunday, and after a lengthy discussion I promised him to look into changing the law, although knowing it would be a struggle and take some time. I have some connections with legislators and have started the conversation towards drafting a bill with them, and hope to gain some public support. Here is a written statement I have drafted, and will proceed to work with until I find it fitting for use at the legislative testimony period. My son Cody and I understand we have to share the public and private lands that are available for use. The problem with hunting everything all seasons on Sunday, in our humble opinion, is we understand folks take walks and go into the woods on Sunday, and at the very least they feel one day for them and one for hunters on weekends is fair. We are asking for consideration for just the four Sundays for deer hunting during the lawful deer hunting season here in Maine. Many Maine people who hunt, like myself, work five days a week from dawn until dusk, and just can't take days off during the week, and neither can my four sons, including my youngest Cody, because they are also working or in school, like most young citizens who like to deer hunt. It would give a great boost to our local economies, giving local businesses income and prosperity, which they sure could use, as we all know. If passed, it would help folks to have a couple days of deer hunting, along with the natural bonding that happens when parents take their kids hunting, which most would agree to be a very special thing, and helps keep our younger generation on the right track, which is a win win. And, best of all, this is a compromise that may work to get it done, nothing more. And, I would certainly travel
