Lower Lake Level of Good Spirit Lake, Saskatchewan
We, the undersigned request the Good Spirit Lake Watershed Association revisit and lower the present operating range of Good Spirit Lake. We are very concerned that the erosion and flooding to the adjacent agricultural lands, natural sand dunes, and once beautiful white sand beaches and trees along the lake that has happened over the past few years may not be repaired. That by hauling in of foreign material to repair the washed out and eroded beach areas along the lake may be in fact introducing a more serious problem. We suggest that if the lake level is lowered by 1 inch that this would account for 3 feet of shoreline. Therefore, if the level would be lowered by 12 inches from present low level of operation of 1589.5 ft to 1588.5 ft. that this would help to lower the saturated water table surrounding the lake yet maintain an acceptable level to the majority of land owners and people that frequent the lake. This petition will be presented to the Good Spirit Lake Watershed Authority on or before Friday, May 21, 2010. If you support our efforts to lowering the lake level, please add your signature below:
