Final supporters
HISD plans to apply for a federal grant that would convert Garden Oaks Elementary into an all Montessori Magnet school. The move would eliminate the traditional education program at the school. Families who do not want their children enrolled in the Montessori program would be forced to attend another elementary school outside the neighborhood.
We are opposed to this hasty, ill-planned proposal that takes away our educational choice in our neighborhood school without any involvement of parents, teachers or community members.

HISD tiene previsto solicitar una subvención federal que convertiría Garden Oaks Elementary en una escuela de Montessori Magnet. La medida eliminaria el programa de educación tradicional en la escuela. Las familias que no quieren que sus hijos se inscriban en el programa Montessori se verían obligados a asistir a otra escuela primaria fuera del vecindario.
Nos oponemos a esta apresurada y mal planificada propuesta que elimina nuestras opciones educativas en la escuela de nuestro vecindario sin la participación de los padres, profesores o miembros de la comunidad.

Stop ignoring the parents. We live here and we deserve a say in how our kids are taught at their local school.
ridiculous. i shouldn't have to drive across town just because the district wants a grant.
My kids love their current teachers and the way they learn. Why fix what isnt broken?
This is total garbage. Keep the traditional program for the kids who need structure. STOP PUSHING THIS ON US.
We chose this neighborhood specifically for the school and now they want to change everything without even asking us?

Montessori isn't for everyone. They need to listen to the actual families before making permanent changes.
