The KIPP Austin School District has made a decision to eliminate the dual language program as it exists right now. They have provided parents three choices, each of which are not ideal options and at no point during the last two years have they consulted parents about this direction.
We want the opportunity to be able to voice our opinions and to seek a different option for the dual language program. We also want to demand that parents are seen as active participants in the school's success.

El Distrito Escolar de KIPP Austin ha tomado la decisión de eliminar el programa de lenguaje dual tal como existe ahora. Han proporcionado tres opciones, cada una de las cuales no son opciones ideales y en ningún momento durante los dos últimos años han consultado a los padres acerca de esta dirección.
Deseamos tener la oportunidad de poder expresar nuestras opiniones y buscar una opción diferente para el programa de lenguaje dual. Queremos también exigir que los padres son vistos como participantes activos en el éxito de la escuela.

ive been reading through all the stories you guys are sending in about why this program matters and it honestly just confirms how wrong this decision is. im working on getting a meeting set up with the district so we can tell them exactly what we think face to face.

im honestly blown away by how much this has grown in such a short time. its clear that so many of us care about keeping bilingual programs in our schools and it feels good to know were not alone in this fight.

As the grandmother of two students in this program, I'd like to support the parents with this program.
Los niños necesitan dual lengua por que es la base para la universidad doble idioma valen por dos es la razón por la que escogimos Kipp y es un gran esfuzo venir hasta KIPP y estar esperando lista de espera . Para que nuestros hijos sean dual lengua y ir a la universidad Ojalá que no lo quiten :(
We selected Kipp Austin Obras because of the bilingual program. We were told she would have it until the 4th grade. Unfortunately if Obras reduces its program it has a very strong possibility that I’ll be looking for another school to transfer her to. The fact that my child is able to be bilingual as I was is important to me and many other Obra parents.
Por favor mantengan el programa DUAL. Hoy mis hijos Gabriel de tercer grado y mi hija Isabella de Kinder pueden: hablar, leer y escribir en dos idiomas.
The bilingual program is what distinguishes us from other charter schools in the area. Not only will it affect our enrollment but also rob our kids of the endless opportunities given to them simply for being bilingual.

Yo como padre de familia les pido por favor de no quitar el programa bilingüe , a mi hijo le ayuda mucho y para que esté más preparado para la middle school and high school el necesario que ellos puedan aprender los dos idiomas , por favor de mantener en programa bilingüe

I believe that bilingual education is critical to address the cultural and developmental needs of Austin's diverse community. Let's remember - Knowledge is Power; that includes knowledge of self, knowledge of your culture, and knowledge of how to build for the future.
