Working at Ermysted's and with a daughter at Skipton girls' I fully support a campaign for 20mph

I wholeheartedly agree with the 20mph restriction on Gargrave Road. I think parents should be encouraged to drop children off further away from school; the walk would contribute to the recommended 150 mins exercise per week, which they're probably not achieving currently!

In the 18 months that my daughter has been at the school I have witnessed one girl knocked down and know of 2 other boys who have been knocked down - all on Gargrave Road at school time. Fortunately they did not have life threatening injuries but this is evidence of just how dangerous this stretch of road is.

I live on Gargrave Road between Skipton Girls and Ermysteds, a 20 mph zone should have been introduced years ago.

Personally I would support 20mph throughout the residential parts of town. Skipton streets were not designed for the volume of traffic and pedestrians that visit the town. Start with Gargrave Road, but don't stop at that.

My daughter attends SGHS, and would like to think that her safety is paramount to the community and for this petition to succeed in order for this to happen.

School buses and parents stopping to drop off/pick up make it difficult to maneouvre around the school - 20mph will be helpful but not a solution on its own.

Safety first, always.

Whilst the speed of traffic on Gargrave Road is an issue, it does not alter the fact that vehicles will still need to stop to let the students get out, which often more of a problem than the speed of the traffic

Every life is valuable, keep them safe and lets face it people were here before motor vehicles, so slow down and save a life!

Completely agree, maybe putting speed humps in strategic places would slow traffic down further. Definitely 20mph between certain keys hours during term time. As a local resident, I do have a problem with childrens lack of traffic awareness ie looking both ways before you cross a road. They do not have right of way and for there own safety they should do it on every road they cross. I have had a number of incidences outside of the busiest times, when girls especially, have sauntered across Salisbury Street thinking there is a pavement straight across and it is their right of way. They need to be made aware of how to keep themselves safe. One day they wont have such a courteous driver...

I support the petition to make Gargrave Road a GO20 location.

Needs to be 20 for school opening and closing times. With so many students around and choked with buses at school times it is very dangerous for children and vehicles.

The extreme traffic on the Keelham farm roundabout (Gargrave road) with no pedestrian crossing around it, makes it impossible for my child plus others from Stirton, to cross over to get to school which means we pay for a bus or she has to walk 45mins to get to school instead of 10minutes. The longer route she has to take, is unlit and has no pavement.
