Support paid release for Congress Delegates

Management are currently refusing to allow paid release for staff elected as branch delegates to GMB Congress. Our recruitment process includes the requirement for employees to have "commitment /empathy to TU movement". Until, it seems, staff actually seek to put their commitment into practice by taking a role within the democratic structures of their recognised union - GMB. GMB only pays a small proportion of loss of wages, and in arrears. The up-front costs associated with attending Congress combined with the loss of pay could effectively prohibit some of our comrades from acting as a delegate. We believe that our management should be doing better. We ask other employers to grant paid release for union activities, why not our own employer? Please show your support by signing the petition.
