Residents of our road find it impossible to park on our own street due to the amount of cars parked, often illegally and dangerously, by the customers of the Al Zain restaurant on the corner who are using our road as a free car park.
My daughter was almost knocked over by a motorcycle who was driving on the pavement at speed on Melville Villas road as the cars were blocking the road.
The parking restrictions in their current state are not fit for purpose and residents are being unfairly punished. This issue has been raised on a number of occasions to the council by several residents but nothing has been done to assess the situation let alone address it.
We would like the council to increase the hours of restriction to 10pm on weekdays and weekends to prevent illegal and dangerous parking on our street.
On the one hand made the street inaccessible as a school street during a period of the morning and afternoon so difficult to get work people and contractors in as well as a disabled child that needs to get dropped off by LA transport so is forced to walk. Huge inconvenience to residents On the other hand freely available in the evenings and weekends such that residents can’t get parking and often get tickets as the next K street is across the other side of the high street - so difficult with children, bags and luggage. And often filled with cars randomly and haphazardly parked on Gloucester Rd and Melville Villas such that delivery drivers mount pavements almost taking out young children walking.
