Inmate Family's & Supporters Demand Investigation of MCI/Global Tel Link

I have been using a prepay phone and had been putting money on prepay account for gtl. I got an AT&T phone and called and put 50 dollars on the new phone with gtl and 2 phone calls took 25 dollars where my prepay phone the calls were around 1.70 each

This company has a legalized corner on the market and charges exorbitant rates for an abused and captive audience. It is legalized theft. I sent a complaint to the Texas PUC who then told me to take it up with the county jail where the service is used. This is absurd. What in the world happened to utility regulatory agencies.

i have paid almost $4 for a call from a jail one and a half miles from my house.i have also paid $1.50 from a jail about thirty miles away! explain that!!!

I have been waiting for MCI/Global Tel Link to post a 75.00 payment to the prepaid system,my bank says they have taken the finances. Global Tel has now been reduced to STEALING FROM CONSUMERS! OUTRIGHT!

It is used in the USDB military prison. Why do they charge nearly 30 cents a minute to talk to your loved ones when other services are so much cheaper? Global Tel Link should be sued for all the heartache they cause. There is competition in this system but they get government contracts; thus monopolizing the misfortune of inmates and their families. Shame on you Global Tel Link. It is like being in prison obey my laws no matter how unjust. Pay or else suffer in silence.

I paid $70.++ for monthly fee same day activation, ect.. took 2 days to begin activation. they called the cell the call is to be directed to and punched in the code and confirmed calls are activated.....it is now over 2 weeks since they took my money and still the line is not workable...I demanded my money back and they refused and when I asked to speak with their supervisor they hung up on me. They promise a guarantee on their website that they do not honor

This organization is a complete joke! They purposely make it impossible to file a complaint or speak to someone who has the authority to answer questions. They do not explain anything to their paying customers. There is a ton of rhetoric and red tape for what seems to be no reason. They deny you access to your loved ones, provide you with false and contradictory information and skirt accountability by only allowing you to speak to a lower-level customer service representatitve. I want to see the man behind the curtain!!!

Why must the families be made to suffer to provide for the greedy.

I agree with what I have been reading. Monopolies are supposed to be against the law unless a Judge or governor are invested in the company. Then it seems to be just fine. I am tired of being taken advantage of. The only reason Global Tel Link is able to hold the only contract is because no one wants to go against a governor or judge. The supreme court justices are probably invested with this company. How can we find out who is invested in this company? I want it to stop and have a fair completion for the money that is being collected. I think I will buy some of this stock if it is to be had.

Its about time.they are the biggest crooks around.Been using gtl for seven years and lost thousands of dollars talking to our son in Arkansas.they do take advantage of us.tried to get money back from lost calls good luck.The calls are very expensive.they should be taken to court and we should be compensated.the biggest rip off company around. please help now. jim

Global Tel Link is in VIOLATION of FCC ruling of August, 2013, capping rates at .25 cents per minute. FILE COMPLAINTS WITH FCC TODAY !!

Why aren't GTL executives in jail?

Have been given the run around about having to provide a current phone bill and a utility bill. Been working on this for 31/2 weeks now. URGGGGGGGGG.

I am in Mississippi, I have Cable One Phone. I have free long distance calls. They do not allow collect calls. But I still have to have GTL, to talk too my son. So I have to use GTL. I sure hope this petition works

It is very apparent that this company is full of fraudulent practices. Literally, excuse my expression but they have the consumer that deals with them by the balls. Here are the reasons why: You, me or someone we know has a relative incarcerated. They also know that you and your relatives want to keep in contact with each other (they get lonely, you get lonely) they need support. GTL is in it for the profit with the prison, city jail system...why else are they one of the main carriers in the jail system to have to use their services. And do you think that the state, or facility does not make their profit? If it hasn't crossed your mind than you need electro therapy. Now check this out...we are being charged $8.00 off the top for a service with a minimum of 25.00. GTL is taking $32% of your $25 off the top and then you get screwed with dropped calls which rarely happen but mainly come up short. So in reality they are taking close to 50% of what you pay to speak to your loved ones. For you starbucks drinkers that's like going out and buying a tall decaf carmel macchiato for ten hard earned dollars and only getting a small shot of that drink after you paid for it. For you John's out there, that's like going to pay to get some real good love making from some nice looking lady of the day or night for say $100 bucks give or take $50. After you give her the money she slowly, seductively, walks up to you and puckers up her lips, then smiles to which you are aware that she has no teeth, her wig has lice in it, and she grabs you by the balls ever so gently, turns around and walks away. You tell me, who just got screwed. The way to stop this madness I say. don't deal with GTL. Tell your loved one you have to write. Seriously, hear me when I say this.
