Inmate Family's & Supporters Demand Investigation of MCI/Global Tel Link

I have been charged NC collect rates at $3.40+tax for more than 120 calls that should be charged $3.15+tax per the NC DPS website Inmate Telephone System section. I have paid the $4.75 service fee 18 times, but paid $7.95 3 times. I have paid full (yet incorrect) price for 7 calls less than 5 minutes each, including a 2 second call that was a busy signal, that should be refunded per the Q&A Help section of the GTL website, as my phone is not a cell phone. I have been told by GTL that my billing will not be researched, and that I will not receive any credit on my account, ever.

All of it has also happened to me just in the past four months.. I except the call and we get cut off , then on next phone call they have deducted a full charge for call and we didn't even get to say hi. And there is no other way to talk to Kim via phone system. However I've been reading that some jails & prisons will hand inmate an email. It certainly isn't voice to voice but it's quicker then post mail and GTL gets left out.u

These people are one big scam there taking our money and not refunding it back. There rude when u call in I Want my money back and shut them down

overcharging when i have had calls that wouldnt connect they say not their fault and charge the call they refuse to credit for calls where other party couldnt hear me and had to call back to be able to hear their fees are super high

Global Tel Link needs to be regulated by the government. They are abusing their monopolistic position to overcharge on phone calls from correctional institutions. My opinion is that this company is the "poster child" for an immoral corporation.

GTl is such a fraud, I dont understand why if you have an account with multiple numbers and they become nolonger in use why cant they just transfer the funds to the correct proper working number. Its your money, they charge you 5.00 for a refund. I also have AT&T and they allow collect call billing but GTL blocks you after 20.00 what is that not to mention their rude customer service and the incompetence that they display. I am going to look into filing a class action law suit against them.

I think that it is wrong for people to do this to inmates family . It the only contact they may have with the outside world.

AND the website is written by a 6th grader, READ THE PRIVACY POLICY! I started getting spam like crazy right away after signing up! I just got a very suspicious email supposedly from them, BUT I'm thinking it's malware/virus!! The attachment, was their logo.. interesting, huh? They sell ALL of our info to the world.!

I have had so many problems that I have cussed them out!they swear they are helpin us out but all they are doing is stealing our money and it need to come to an end! We have to pay 5 dollars to get a refund! Are you kidding me? 5 dollars to give us OUR money back

This company blocked my google phone number and now I have been waiting 4 days for them to transfer the funds to my metro number. They told me 24 to 72 hours to transfer the funds and they still are not on my phone. Was told yesterday that they would be transfered in the afternoon and here we are again today with nothing but disheartened loved ones because of no communication with the outside world. It's not right!

I have not encountered the prepay card. However, it is very clear from their practices the #1 business priority is financial gain. The concern for inmates and their families need and desire to communicate whom GTL provides this service are not secondary, they are non-existent. I found it odd that you can only transfer a remaining balance ONE TIME to another phone #, So be careful applying your funds correctly. Your money could be left in limbo.

I have been cheated out of so much money talking to an inmate just several times. I can't get refunds. I deal with rude customer service. This is disgrace to our country. Please help!

Fees are totally outrageous. My biggest complaint however is here in Indiana the call quality is horrible. ...i know the calls are being recorded but almost on every call the first 3 to 5 mins I can not hear my son and I have wasted mins. this is not fair and this is highway robbery. what a shame ..something needs to be done soon. why are inmates family and friends who r already suffering have to be loaded down with an extra financial burden.

Over charging, blocking your number, refusing to credit another number when you no longer have the one money is on. They do not give you any type of account statement or summary of calls. They do not credit when the connection is horrible and will not take a complaint when the phones are torn up except by the inside which will not do anything to help the inmates. They have a monopoly and it is unconstitutional!

thier service is horrible prices are high had a new number they wanted to charge me a new set up fee and I had been using them for years just so ridiculous

They keep money saying it expired after they take it and cause unreliable communications for additional accounts that have bee paid into for other family members to allow. They took 34. because they said it expired and now the 25 for an extra family member to receive calls is being kept and impossible to reach for them to approve it as they require from there cell phone, They drop the call to customers and have serious audio issues!

I have call GTL numerous times about calls cut short. They always say the will investigate and nothing ever happens. I have lost so much money dealing with this company.

over $100 removed from accounts without advance warning

This company charged my credit card a $30 charge unauthorized right after i added a $15. To my account and i never seen the $30 charge or authrized it either but yet it was the next charge on my credit card statement and it cost me $18.50 to add the $15.00 to my phone and uce gotten 2 phone calls the first was 19 min and tbe next time i was able to answer the call it said i had $6 somethi g left so it cost me $9. Something for approx. 10 min call from a marin county jail thats only one county over heck it was much cheaper to talk to my child in the state pruson system and i have two love ones in diffrent housing srctions in the jail im a disabled older lady that lives on disablity and im unable to go visit because ive recently just had surgury and im not able to get around so i eirther go without talking to my loved ones or i pay a fortoune to talk to them because they worry about me being ok i write but between the stamps and phone calls i cant even send them money to get stamps to write back absoulutly uncalled for

Why does GTL burden the families of loved ones by monopolizing telephone calls??? My cell phone plan doesn't cost this much!

GTL is operating fraudulently and illegally by disconnecting calls after I have accepted them and refusing to bill my carrier, saying they have a contract with the prisons (they do NOT) and a contract with the carriers (they do NOT) and trying to coerce me into a contract with GTL (I refuse), asking for my personal info when I have no business dealings with them. Every few months or years for 20 years now this has occurred, each time requiring many hours of my time and expense and that of my lifelong carrier to force GTL to stop interfering, and to restore my carrier's ability to bill me directly for these calls. This is a direct quote from the top engineer in NY to me re what GTL was doing: "It is a problem with the wiring -- a "switching" problem (with the mechanical and software switches) -- the switch is not showing appropriate reactions to my actual (carrier Verison) service provisions -- there is a "discrepancy" between my service and what the technical switching is doing!!!" I'd call this highly ILLEGAL!

They should be deeply investigated if not the business should be completely removed. Everyday this company steals money from the families who only wants to talk with there loved ones I say this with honest truth because I was an inmate before and my wife money was stolen only did 8 days but the point I'm making is if this company keeps taking from the people then how will they continue to afford it? Money is not infinite. We must righteous and honest with love not evil and dishonest. It's embarrassing to see a company that's suppose to be helping people stay in contact with there loved ones that's incarcerated but instead they steal from us.

YES! INDEED! Global Tel Link, prices are way too expensive and causing a burden upon families in the United States this should be a problem due to the fact other prison systems locally, can get a free call. Not only is Ms.Anita and I'm sure others, not receiving their phone calls but I personally experienced a fault with Global Tel Link, Myself. Last Month in August my Boyfriend [ Kevin Richard#BJN812 ] called me but under the circumstances of where I lived my call dropped and yet I was charged for it. And they said I had to put more money on my phone when it was my last 50$ and I don't appreciate that because I could be putting that money towards something else, like a BILL or something since the United States wants to TAX every damn thing but that's a different story. ;) Yes. This is a serious problem and I'm willing to do what helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The company needs to be investigated they steal from families who want to be in contact with their imprisoned loved ones.

This company consistently takes money from people without giving them quality service and they are never held accountable. Inmate's families are people with considerable financial strains and deserve to be given the option to use a quality service provider. GTL needs to go.

GTL/Connectnetwork for Ohio Prisons is a joke. Both the Connectnetwork app and the website don't work. Also, not able to get help with Customer Service with putting monies in family member's trust!!!

Bunch of rude, inconsiderate, thieves. Money is just disappearing from my account with gtl and I keep getting excuses as to why.
