Currently, the Somerset Academy Acceptance Policy gives priority first to transfer students, then to siblings of current students. This presents a problem especially at the Sky Pointe campus as this campus is in high demand for students at other Somerset campuses. Siblings will not be accepted until those transfer students have a spot. With minimal movement in the student base, because most of the students will return next year, it could potentially take years before those siblings are accepted and are able to attend school with their siblings. We are asking the Board to review this policy and make the necessary changes to reduce the hardship that is placed on families under the current interpretation of the Acceptance Policy and give siblings preference.

Updates

I have been hearing from so many parents who feel torn apart by the current enrollment policy. It is heartbreaking to drop one child off at school and know their brother or sister is miles away on a waiting list. I am preparing a formal request for the board to review these rules so our families can finally be together in the mornings.

Seeing this grow so quickly confirms that I am not the only parent struggling to keep my children together at the same school. Your support gives me hope that we can finally convince the Board to prioritize our families over administrative convenience.

My kids need to be at the same school. Driving to two different campuses every morning is impossible with my work schedule.

FAMILIES SHOULD COME FIRST!! How are we supposed to manage getting kids to school on time if they are across town from each other?? Change this now!
