Upon acceptance to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, the children of our fallen Hokie, Deriek Crouse, will receive a full-ride scholarship for each of their undergraduate educations here at Virginia Tech. This is the least we can do to help his family during these hard times, after Deriek protected us day after day.

UPDATE: IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, OFFICER CROUSE'S CHILDREN AND WIFE, WILL HAVE THESE BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO THEM SINCE HE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.  THEREFORE, I AM AMMENDING THE PETITION TO ESTABLISH A SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN HONOR OF OFFICER DERIEK CROUSE.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

The feedback from the community confirms that a dedicated scholarship fund serves as a meaningful way to honor the legacy of Officer Crouse. I am currently consulting with university officials to determine the most effective legal structure for these contributions. Further details regarding the official process will be provided once the framework is firmly established.

The momentum behind this initiative continues to grow and reflects the profound respect our community holds for the service of Officer Crouse. This collective encouragement confirms that establishing a lasting scholarship fund remains the correct path forward to honor his legacy.

Such a tragedy. My heart breaks for his family. This is the least we can do.

My son was on campus that day. We will never forget him. Thanks for setting this up.
