With summer approaching, the dress code for girls get stricter than ever. Yes, some clothing items should not be worn such as crop tops and shorts that show girls butts, but some of these rules are not necessary.
With no exaggeration, the only reason we have these rules are so that guys aren't distracted. It's not mine or any other girls fault that male students are struggling or not thinking right because of showing a little shoulder or our leg. It actually teaches that if a guy were to harass another girl, it wouldn't be his fault, but the girl's because of what she wore or looked like. The real problem to address is that the school environment is teaching boys to not respect girls because of her choice of clothing. Will my shoulder or leg really lower test scores? I doubt that the boy who sits next to me failed his test because my tank top wasn't "three fingers." Instead of publicly shaming girls, for wearing shorts in 80 degree weather, teach male students not to over sexualize normal female body parts. The dress code empowers male and some may say "boys will be boys", so why can't a "girl just be a girl?"
So if this gets a lot of signatures please change the rules to being allowed to wear shorts 2 inches below your bottom and having bra straps not visible. This isn't an over reaction, the school dress code is.
