Gilad Shalit is a 24 year old Israeli who was kidnapped over four years ago by Hamas Terrorist Organisation who have since held Gilad in isolation.

Throughout his captivity Gilad has been denied the most basic of rights. He is neither permitted to send nor receive messages from his family. Hamas have denied all attempts by the Red Cross to visit Gilad, to verify his welfare.

His current where abouts and physical well-being are unknown.

According to the Geneva Convention (1949), every prisoner of war is entitled to be visited by representatives of the International Red Cross (IRC).

We are writing to express solidarity with Gilad Shalit, the abducted Israeli soldier held by Hamas.

We call on the Red Cross to exert pressure on the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip to grant Gilad Shalit the rights due him under international law.
