Petition to Homewood Mayor and City Council:
We denounce the local and global harm of throwaway plastics. We urge our Mayor and City Council to study bold policy actions elsewhere and to craft a Homewood ordinance promoting community wide transition to reusable or biodegradable shopping bags.
Over 500 municipalities across the U.S. have implemented bans on single-use plastics...ordinances that work for those particular communities. Homewood can do this too! Let's become the first city in Alabama to create policy that limits the amount of waste going into our streams, trees and parks!

I see plastic bags stuck in the trees at the park every single week. It looks terrible. Clean up our town already.
Living by the river makes you really see the trash piling up. It is time we stop acting like we have endless places to dump this stuff.
Homewood needs to get with the program. We are way behind on this.
Sick of seeing all the litter in our beautiful city. Ban the bags!
Seriously guys it is not that hard to bring your own bags to the store. Stop being lazy and lets save our local nature.
