Northern Irish Steeplechaser Kerry O'Flaherty has been cruelly denied a place in the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Team despite having secured all the required times and rankings. The team are taking lesser ranked players in other sports out to The Gold Coast, but one of the country's best athletes is being left at home. Kerry also helped set the targets and rankings for places but she is now left at home. Kerry’s CW and world ranking is third highest out of the athletes, and higher than the majority going in all the the other sports on the NI team. Speaks for itself.
It's a shambles that we even need to petition this. Kerry has done everything she needs to and she should be going. Simple.
Kerry should absolutely be going to the Gold Coast considering her sporting credentials.

Absolute travesty for someone who has given so much to Northern Ireland athletics,and inspired so many young runners, to be passed over for selection...
