NOTE: Avengers 2 is set to be released in 2015 also. If Mr. Whedon is not available for Episode VII, he could direct the next movie. This would be similar to the original Star Wars trilogy, which had a different director for each movie.

I have been spending my nights rewatching Firefly and imagining how that sharpness would translate to a galaxy far away. It feels like the right fit for the future of the franchise and I am grateful to see so many of you feel the same way.

Seeing this momentum gather brings back that same excitement I felt when I first saw the Avengers pull together on screen. It is clear that I am not the only one who dreams of seeing this vision realized for the galaxy far, far away.

Imagine the dialogue! He writes characters better than anyone in hollywood right now.
He just gets the vibe of space westerns perfectly. it would be so much better than what theyll probably end up doing.
The Avengers proved he can handle a big budget franchise. Disney needs to make this happen.
