This is a great blast from the past. It's a video of Mark Hamill being interviewed in anticipation of Return of the Jedi in 1983. The video refers to what we now know as the "original trilogy" as "the first of three trilogies." Clearly, the idea of three trilogies has been out in the open for decades now, but it's very interesting to see it talked about before Return of the Jedi is even released.
This doesn't directly have to do with the petition, but certainly is related. This chainsaw suit comic is a great reaction to the news.
