Started by Croyde Area Residents Association 7 years, 1 month ago

Following on from the CARA open meeting on 20th May, the committee noted the residents' comments about poor broadband speed. A company has been commissioned and work could start in early 2020, but adding some pressure may result in work starting earlier. After talking to Pat Barker she has suggested that it maybe beneficial to set up a petition. Simple paper petitions for you to sign have been put in the Croyde and Georgeham Post Offices, The Manor House Inn, The Thatch, The Rock and The Kings Arms. You can also sign the petition online here.

Updates

July 5, 2019

The momentum we have built makes it clear that the residents are done waiting for this service. These telecom companies think they can keep us in the dark ages while we pay the price for their inaction.

The broad band has periods when it is slow, especially at times when the population of the Village expands in the holidays and at the weekends for example. It affects the ability to carry out many aspects of normal modern day life as Computers, smart TVs, tablets and mobiles etc hang or don't work as well as they usually do.

Often my work is interrupted or has to be rescheduled due to poor/failed internet speed/connection. This is not acceptable nor fair on our community.

The 'green boxes' in both Georgeham and Croyde say "Superfast broadband is here" Not here it isn't!

Please give our rural community faster broadband. 1.5 is a joke, especially when trying to work from home or family visit.

As a farmer and holiday let manager, we rely on fast internet , as do our clients - sadly , its currently not compatible with doing any sort of business

Faster broadband will increase/improve remote working, and therefore enhance job opportunities and work life balance for residents. Especially in the summer when the traffic increases (internet and cars!)

Essential to have faster broadband. Can only get standard broadband where I live on St Mary's Road.

Faster broadband is essential to all those who work from home. Also to aid local businesses in rural areas compete Nationally and internationally. Bring Georgeham and North Devon into the 21st century.
