Oppose Georgetown Millage Increase

Georgetown Business Association (GBA) Petition WHERE AS property assessments overall in the City of Georgetown have dropped; and WHERE AS this change in assessments means that the proposed City Budget for the next fiscal year will have a shortfall in revenues of approximately $500,000; and WHERE AS the Mayor and the City Council are prepared to vote to increase the millage and therefore increase property taxes to make up for the shortfall; and WHERE AS based on the overall City Budget of approximately $33 million dollars, this shortfall amounts to approximately 1.5% of that total It is hereby resolved by all signatories to this petition that the Mayor and the City Council not increase the millage to cover the shortfall in revenues and instead find this small 1.5% amount through savings over the next fiscal year.
