This petition is not against the school
It’s about one rule that impacts children’s health. yes the toilets should remain locked but it’s hard to hold bladder for 2 hours and teachers doesn’t allow to use bathroom .School needs to find the way to improve this
If parents started petition it’s means this is a problem for some students ,that hasn’t been resolved
The school is absolutely fantastic and doing great in educating. Very grateful for staff of this school and we are lucky to have this school in our community

Both my boys go to the school. Yeah weve had some tough times but i know they have their best interests at heart. My boys are no angles and will take the mick if theyre allowed. I dont want them getting out of there lessons when they should be learning. do any of u have any suggestions. have you even bothered going to the school or are you just hiding behind your screens like proper keyboard warriors.
I want my boys to have an education. they never moan about not being able to get food at lunch theres always loads of stuff. they only had 20 mins lunch last year and now they get 30 so i dont c what the issue is.

WTF? You want the school to let the kids go wherever they want whenever they want? Never gonna happen. I don't want my daughter taking the mick and spending time in the toilet when she should be in her lessons. Rules are rules, some we don't agree with but just get on with it.
Cant believe some of you lot. Pathetic mate

Seriously? What about the safety of the children? It's OK suggesting they keep the toilets open but who is going to manage them? The teachers? And then you lot will be moaning that your kids aren't being taught. They can't win. Get a grip of yourself.
Is this now a personal vendetta against the children of Tilbury? You are all quick to moan about stuff, but never praise the school for all the stuff they do that's good. Some of you lot have very short memories. I for one have been given free uniform when I couldn't afford it. They also give out Xmas hampers amongst tons of other stuff, and they never show off about it. It's all done for us families that are struggling.
If you dont like the way things are run then send your kid somewhere else. Good luck finding a decent school in the area.
Gateway you have my full backing. My son loves it there and we love sending him.

Is this something negative about Tilbury again? We are really lucky to have this school. I assume anybody with your toilet comments, have never worked in a school. Is this a vendetta against the school because it is in Tilbury? I feel sorry for the school who are working so hard to support our kids. I love Tilbury and everything this school is doing for our kids and the community.

I cannot believe grown adults are wasting their time with this! My daughter moved to the Gateway from another local school and let me tell you when I say that this schools lunches are much better than where she was. Better food, calmer corridors and more extra curricula clubs that ever, she got bullied in her last school and I have not had one issue here, so I commend the school for that!! I have spoken to my daughters head of year when I had an issue previously and it was dealt with straight way. I bet half the ADULTS on here moaning don't even make contact with the school. When speaking with the head of year, I asked about the toilets, they don't open toilets during lessons and let children go on their own as it stops truancy (I agree with) they have a member of staff on call each period for when students are desperate to go. She also informed me that the toilets are manned every break and lunch and they are kept safe from bullying. Again I completely agree. She even offered for me to come in and walk around to see what goes on. I am someone who is happy to trust the school I send my child to, I don't understand how people have time to make these petitions, its very sad

They only extended the break for year 7s, in fact they go to break 5/10 minutes earlier and when other year groups go to break, theres no more lunch left. the school isnt providing enough lunches. other year groups also have to choose between having lunch or going to the loo, just cause your child is happy doesnt mean the entire school is happy. all the year groups have lunch at the same time and in each year group theres at least 1000 students and everything is packed, the canteens are packed with nowhere to sit, the libraries are packed, the toilets are packed and we cant even go to a more quieter area cause we're not allowed. and when we raise this to aware the teachers they just let it slide because we are being "dramatic", "unreasonable" and "our opinion doesnt count cause we're kids". personally, i think they shouldnt silence our opinions like that.

Strongly agree. My daughter now suffers with water infections. And is really embarrassed as this has now caused a weak bladder resulting in a lot of accidents.

are you not aware that the school actually had a protest of students last year telling everyone they should open the toilets. you would think they did. no the teachers didnt listen and nothing changed so instead of assuming everyones got a problem maybe ask about it first.

The school has always listened to any concerns I have raised. They have extended the break and lunch for Year 7 and for all year groups since last year. I am glad the toilets are monitored. My child can now play basketball every break and lunch and they love this school.

I find this incredibly sad, this is one of the best schools in Thurrock. It provides an outstanding education to our children. Let's get behind the Gateway instead of adding to the toxic social media culture.

I have three children that have passed through the doors of Gateway and over the years they have adapted to changes in laws, a pandemic, and a cultural clientele. I have always felt supported financially (just last week they provided some uniform items that I couldn’t afford) and emotionally, and I am grateful for all they do, not just for the students in the school but for us as a community. It saddens me that we are not focusing on the education they offer, which is second to none (results speak for themselves). We should be commending them and being grateful for what they bring to our community, rather than all this negativity.

Think about the health of our children constant holding the bladder can have a negative effect on their health and the lunch time issues will contribute to bad eating habits this needs to stop

It's not about not having enough time to eat it's the fact that there's too many people getting food and theres not enough food when there's half the school left hungry it's ridiculous
