Friends of Allen Park Bushland Group 'Save the Cottage' Petition

A very unique & pristine area that deserves to have existing heritage buildings correctly maintained & utilised by the local community. So many families use and enjoy Allen Park, Melon Hill & surrounding parkland and this particular building is beautiful in character, provides multi-purpose capability/capacity and preservation should be mandatory.

Restore & Reuse!

Please allocate funds to restore the little cottage that not only adds to the Heritage Precinct in ambience but shows our younger people and varied cultures our heritage at a glance. Thankyou

This cottage is a fundamental part of the Allen Park precinct and represents years of history and community dedication to the environment and shared spaces. It would be a sad day to see it left to rot or bulldozed. Please save this symbol.

This cottage should be restored & maintained, continuing to be available for community groups. As a regular user of Allen Park I applaud and sincerely thank all past & present members of the volunteer group, Friends of Allen Park Bushland Group. They give so much of their time and are passionate about preserving the wonderful heritage of a very unique area within the metropolitan area.

The Friends of Allen Park has managed and fought for the retention of Allen Park bushland over many years and their recommendation to protect and restore the old cottage for the benefit off local groups and as an asset for the City of Redlands and the community must carry a lot of weight. I support the retention and restoration of the old cottage.

The Friends of Allen Park has managed and fought the battles over years when Allen Park bushland has been threatened. Allen Park & Melon Hill is a wonderful space for the community. This house offers those who take such amazing care of the bushland, a place to plan and work. By saving this building in the heritage listed area, it could be better utilized by the wider community if given the opportunity.

How is it possible to demolish a heritage cottage in a heritage zone ?Is there a report from a heritage architect?

This cottage is positioned on the slopes of Swanbourne’s prominent dune “Melon Hill” in Allen Park and is almost 100 years old and urgently needs an upgrade. It is a great asset to the community and an upgrade will breathe new life into it, giving respect to its vintage and sense of place in the Heritage Precinct. Allocated funds are needed to at least restump and reclad the building and to be done in the given timeframe.

This is the last original cottage left in its original location in the Allen Park Precinct, the others in the precinct having been imported from other locations in Swanbourne and Subiaco. It is very important to keep for its heritage value as well as its usefulness to the local community.

This is a beautiful landmark and needs to be kept.
