On March 20th, in an abundance of caution the Glenwood Springs City Council closed the Municipal Airport to reduce the risk of COVID19 transmission. While we appreciate (though may not totally agree with) the reasoning behind the initial closure, it has been over a month and it should be reopened.
KGWS is the only airport in the state of Colorado closed because of this concern. In fact the only other airports closed in the nation are part of State Parks which are also closed. Neither the CDC, WHO or FAA has made this recommendation.
Not allowing the pilots to fly is in fact endangering lives because of loss of proficiency. Both the FAA and Governor Polis recognize the importance of flight training and it is considered a "critical activity". Flying in the mountains has inherent risks and it is even more important that pilots be able to practice and hone their skills.
We request the Glenwood City Council and staff reopen the airport with whatever social distancing or recommendations put forth by the FAA and CDC for General Aviation travel.

It is past time to open the Glenwood Springs airport. It is important for business and commercial flights, air ambulance flights, as well as personal flights. Pilots must maintain proficiency and cannot without flying periodically. Please open the field.
I have been to KGWS several times and consider it a crucial and affordable airport for that region. I use it to access the area mainly for tourism, like the hot springs and Sunlight. Please do reopen this airport soon so we can continue to visit the wonderful area!
This is an outstanding airport that allows access to central CO that Aspen does not due to it’s excessive fees. Not all people that fly airplanes are rich. I sacrifice plenty to enjoy flying so I can see as much of the western US as possible.
Losing pilot proficiency or the use of an airport is not recommended. Social distancing can be easily achieved. If DIA AND ALL OTHER AIRPORTS in the state can remain open, the certainly Glenwood Springs airport can remain open.
This airport is an essential emergency option for ever small-plane operation that flies through that vicinity. The weather will, not can, change in a matter of minutes and pilots need options. Do not take this critical option away.

For my birthday present, Aunt Debbie will sit on my baby blankey in her leather thong! Aunt Debbie started farting on blankey! An hour later she was still sitting on blankey, completely crushing the blue school chair with her thighs and butt, she got up. Blankey was flat with Aunt Debbie a butt cheek marks forged in him, I sniffed blankey, he has a sexy, sweet cucumber melon butt smell!
