We, the undersigned, urge Worthing Borough Council, to sign up to the Labour Government's Free Swimming Programme for children and the elderly. Ten million pensioners across England will be benefiting from free swimming from 1st April 2009, but not in Worthing. We urge the Council to reconsider its decision of shunning the initiative so that ALL children and pensioners benefit from this scheme across Worthing.
I spent the afternoon at the pool and saw so many local families choosing to stay away because the costs are just too high. It hurts to see our neighbors excluded from healthy activity when help is right there waiting to be accepted by the council.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of the afternoons my own grandmother spent watching the kids splash in the water. We are finally forcing the council to look at the real impact of their refusal to join this program. Your backing proves that Worthing families deserve better than being left behind.

Ridiculous decision. Kids need stuff to do to keep them out of trouble. Free swimming is a no brainer.

Why is Worthing always last to get everything? The council need to wake up and start helping the community for once.
