Kerry Myers, National Award-winning prison journalist and editor of the Angolite prison news magazine received a unanimous commutation recommendation from the Louisiana Board of Pardons on September 10th, 2013. A deputy warden attending the hearing stated that Myers had the lowest risk assessment score for re-entry he had ever seen.

Please join his broad base of support including journalists, criminal justice experts, university department chairs, clergy, friends and family in encouraging Governor Jindal of Louisiana to sign the recommendation of commutation for Kerry Myers.

I just saw the number hit one hundred and honestly my brain is short circuiting a bit because thinking about this many people caring about Kerry is just a lot to process. I keep thinking back to when I started this and was just hoping for like five signatures so this feels like a total landslide.

I spent a week in the penitentiary studying and discussing with a small group gathered by a chaplain that included Kerry Myers. I was deeply impressed by Kerry as a person and as a contributor to the group and wholeheartedly support his commutation.

If the most infamous parole board in America - your Parole Board Governor Jindel - says it is time to release Mr. Myer - I would trust them explicitly. Further incarceration has no cost benefit to anyone. Mr. Myers can be a productive member of society and not a further burden on your tax-paying constituency.

I am Kerry's father. I have cancer of the lungs and don't know much time I have. I would love to see Kerry come home before the lord takes me. Gov. Jindal please conceder signing this pardon as soon as possible. Thank You

I have known Kerry for more than twenty years. Despite his conviction his actual guilt is questionable; not even the mother and children of the alleged victim believes he is guilty. His record while incarcerated has been exemplary and his continued incarceration serves no purpose.

I have known Kerry Myers for several years and believe his pardon and release are thoroughly warranted. I have huge respect for him: for his integrity; for the service and example he has given during his time Angola and the valuable contribution he will give to wider society.

We are chaplains for the Illinois Dept. of Corrections and the Lake County Jail in Illinois and are Angola volunteer chaplains-we know Kerry, and support all efforts in his release.

I've visited with Kerry at the rodeo. He is a solid man and should be freed soon.
