We the undersigned, based on the Military’s recent policy to reintegrate imprisoned Taliban combatants back to their Afghan communities, do agree to vouch for all eight remaining service members who make up the Leavenworth Ten: 1LT Michael Behenna, SGT Evan Vela Carnahan; PFC Corey Clagett, MSG John Hatley, SPC William Hunsaker, SGT Michael Leahy, SFC Joseph Mayo, and SGT Michael Williams;
In addition, the undersigned are aware that these soldiers were tried and convicted of murder for actions they took in a combat zone; that but for this specific combat incident they would not find themselves incarcerated;
Whereas, the undersigned know that these soldiers volunteered to serve their country during a time of war and they provided exceptional service to their country. We are also aware that these soldiers pose no threat to the citizens of this country, would easily adjust to civilian life, and would be welcomed back into our community;
Therefore we dutifully request 1LT Behenna, SGT Evan Vela Carnahan; PFC Corey Clagett, MSG John Hatley, SPC William Hunsaker, SGT Michael Leahy, SFC Joseph Mayo, and SGT Michael Williams be released and reintegrated back into society to rejoin their families. We vouch they will not return to the battlefield once they are freed.

I have spent the past several days communicating with legal representatives to ensure our request reaches the appropriate review boards. It remains clear that the circumstances surrounding these convictions require a more balanced perspective from the public record.

How can we let terrorists walk free but keep our own troops locked up. Something is completely wrong here.
THESE MEN ARE HEROES. PERIOD. It is a disgrace they are sitting in a cell for fighting for our freedom.
They were doing what they were trained to do. War is hell and sometimes you have to make hard choices. Bring them home now.
Free these guys immediately. They did their duty.
War rules dont apply the same way civilians think they do. Let them out.

My nephew served two tours and says the same thing. They deserve a pardon for what happened out there.
