All the memories made in this courtyard with dear friends are so important to me and I know future students. The snow falling with the whole school in the courtyard, made up dances, senior pictures and more. Plus turf is a carcinogenic… so please don’t do this!!!!

As a TWHS alum and mom of future students at TWHS this is very important to me. The courtyard was an escape for us and a way to connect with nature in the middle of a tedious day. I want my kids to have what I had. Don’t ruin the courtyard.

This was a staple in my high school years. It was so nice and relaxing to be able to get outside in the fresh air and take your mind off the stresses of high school for just a little bit. It needs to stay!! More generations deserve the luxury of fresh air and nature, like we all in the past have gotten.

The kids love the trees. Turf is hot and saves no money. Ask Villa Sport what happened to thier turf when it gets hot (spoiler alert, it melted).

I’m a former TWHS alum, class of 2011. Spending lunches in the courtyard were some of the best parts of my school days. Please don’t destroy the little bit of nature students get to enjoy.

Graduating class of 2011, this courtyard was a cornerstone of my high school experience outside of the classroom. It would be a shame and a great loss to past and future students if it were to be altered in such a dramatic way. Let the courtyard stand.

Getting rid of the courtyard would be a huge loss. I understand that space is at a premium, but I would not sacrifice the benefits that this indoor outdoor space provides your students and teachers. Go up more if you absolutely must; don't go out. You won't be gaining that much classroom space by doing this but you could add an entire floor... The school is already 4 floors high. Invest and make an even bigger difference by solving the problem long term if that's the issue.
As a student and theatre department president from the class of 2011 I have vivid memories of the respite this space provided from the confines of monotonous hallways. That fresh air did a LOT to help reset my severely bored and tired midday self to help me focus in classes, and it allowed a space for kids to get energy out by not being confined to a table breathing in the recycled air in the commons. It helped my anxiety excessively. It also provided a place for us to have cast parties and get-togethers in between Sunday matinee shows and the evening shows without the entire cast making a mess of the commons.
This would be a mistake and affect every incoming student. It's a powerful space.
