As high school students in Wisconsin, we feel that the WIAA is restricting our creativity. We understand that there are some inappropriate phrases and chants which include racism and profanity, but chants like "air ball" "fundamentals" and "you can't do that" are not inappropriate in any definition of the word! Everyone who has signed this is in agreement that these chants should be allowed.

The WIAA rules are unusually restrictive. Unless a phrase is offensive, derogatory or incites others to violence, it should not be banned. Many of the currently banned phrases do not fall into any of those categories. Please re-consider this restriction of speech.
Please reconsider your new rule. By all means if someone is being unruly, using racism and profanity kick them out of the game. Otherwise, let it be. Remember,.....you were a kid once
These kids should be able to show school spirit and pride. Would you rather them be out on the streets causing trouble or cheering for a school team. Taking this away is wrong in every way!!!
You have taken away all forms of cheering. No one pays to sit at a game with their hands in their laps. This happens in college the athletes need to get used to it.
WIAA, stop coddling kids. The world out there is mean. If they can't take students yelling something as simple as "airball" then that's their problem. Let them grow up, on their own. Seriously.
Those chants are perfectly fine in my opinion!

I believe that WIAA is restricting our freedom of speech. These chants and cheers have been a part of sporting events since before any of us were in high school. They are a part of high school sporting culture, and if a team can't take some chants directed towards them, then maybe they shouldn't be playing.
