For years, the 1st boys slo-pitch team has bought hats at Lids to be part of their team uniform. For the past three seasons, the Trojans have sported "T" hats, and have won three consecutive championships. This season, the HSC administration asked the team to purchase their hats through the campus store. As the campus store could not make the team hats before the start of the season, the team went to Lids to purchase hats. Now, the athletic department is trying to force the team to go hatless for the rest of the season. In signing this position, you are pledging your support to the slo-pitch team and stating that you think they should be allowed to wear their traditional "T" hats.

Seeing this kind of movement is honestly spinning my head a little because I never thought so many people would actually care about a bunch of hats but here we are and it feels pretty incredible to see the momentum shifting. The athletics department keeps trying to dodge my emails but it is getting harder for them to ignore the noise we are creating now that this has really taken off.

Who knows - the glare of the sun in a hatless boy's eyes could be what costs HSC the championship. These hats are in no way offensive, and are a real symbol of pride for the very successful slo-pitch team. If this is something that needs to be regulated, the campus store should make sure to have the hats ready by the start of next year's season. Good luck, boys! 4peat!
Delivered Dear HSC, As a 15 year doctor, I have dealt with many 14-18 year old boys and their health issues. I have come across the problem in which many them are getting severe heat stroke because of the lack of covering their head with perhaps a baseball cap. It's a very numskulled idea to take away these precious undefeated baseball caps from these amazing slow pitch athletes. Thank you for your time.
HSC should allow them to finish the season with the hats they've already been wearing and then have next years team use campus store hats. The guys have already purchased these hats and have worn them for games it would be a waste of their money to force them to do otherwise.
As a grad and a peer of a group of championship winning slo-pitch players, it would be a shame to see the boys play without hats - at least until the campus store can get their own stock. It's a sunny diamond and a team tradition.
For years the team has turned to lids due to a lack of school support and resources. This lack of organization has led the boys to look elsewhere. The school should be on time if they are to supply uniforms.
