As from last January car drivers are able to ride motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 125cc without having to obtain an additional licence. The Government believes that motorcycles should be encouraged where they replace car use, especially for commuting purposes. This is because of the lower environmental impact and the reduced congestion of travelling, particularly commuting, by motorcycle instead of by car.This is all good but now obviously is increasing a demand for motorcycle parking on both islands. As motorcyclists we already have been experiencing an unsafe lack of parking, and even the very few parking bays are not actually legal. There has been quite a few incidents where motorcyclist were forced to park in between cars inside car parking bays.

We therefore believe that the authorities should provide enough adequate Free Safe Motorcycle Solo Parking Bays for such motorcycle demand on both islands that will be clearly signposted.

We also believe that more education should be given to both car drivers and bike riders for both their safety, also signs should be put up for more safety awareness towards motorcycle riders.
