As from
last January car drivers are able to ride motorcycles with an engine capacity of
up to 125cc without having to obtain an additional licence. The Government believes that motorcycles should be encouraged where they
replace car use, especially for commuting purposes. This is because of
the lower environmental impact
and the reduced congestion of travelling, particularly commuting, by
motorcycle instead of by car.This is all good but now obviously is increasing a demand for motorcycle parking on both islands. As motorcyclists we already have been experiencing an unsafe lack of parking, and even the very few parking bays are not actually legal. There has been quite a few incidents where motorcyclist were forced to park in between cars inside car parking bays.
We therefore believe that the authorities should provide enough adequate Free Safe Motorcycle Solo Parking Bays for such motorcycle demand on both islands that will be clearly signposted.
We also believe that more education should be given to both car drivers and bike riders for both their safety, also signs should be put up for more safety awareness towards motorcycle riders.

Parking for motorbikes is required if government is to reach traffic objectives
Yes this is a must. Sometimes I spend almost half an hour going around to try and find a safe place for my relatively small scooter because I don't like to take a free car parking space to respect car owners.
we need more parking spaces im Malta and also in Gozo as people whu use motorcycles are increasing .
The more people we can get riding small cc , fuel efficient bikes as their daily commute - the better for all Malta
We need more MC bay parking as motorcycles are increasing daily and when we park in front of a park many times bikers find their motorcycles down. Thanks Sign and Share

Biker friendly measures needed. We are treated as 2nd class citizens with no respect at all.
