On the 19th of December 2010 Clive Palmer opened the gates for all Gold Coasters to attend an A-league game for free. The game was abandoned due to poor pitch conditions causing water to puddle in areas of no grass. Clive Palmer has stated that he will do the same thing again if Stadiums Queensland waives his fee for the abandoned game. 23000 tickets were snapped up by eager Gold Coasters and almost 11000 turned up in poor weather conditions. That’s 23000 people who were robbed of their entertainment and Stadiums Queensland should be held responsible. Stadiums Queensland have blamed the weather as the reason for the abandonment. However a week later, less than 100km up the road another Stadiums Queensland venue, Suncorp Stadium, withstood similar weather conditions due to the playing surface being in immaculate condition. By singing this petition you are asking Stadiums Queensland to take responsibility for the state of the pitch at Skilled Park and not blame Mother Nature. You never know they may even come to the party and waive the fee and at the very least realise that the state of the pitch is not good enough! We target to get 20000 names on this petition so we need all your help to promote the petition, power to the people.
