Die uitbreiding van die bestaande Frankfort Solid Waste Site is om verskeie redes ongewens en die afvalbestuurslisensie vir die werking van hierdie webwerf is deur DESTEA geweier. Dit is egter kommerwekkend dat Mafube Plaaslike Munisipaliteit en sy implementeringsagent van die doel is om met hierdie projek voort te gaan en van voorneme is om die sinvolle besluit van die departement te appelleer.

Ons, die ondergetekende, is bekommerd burgers wat 'n beroep op DESTEA (Departement van Ekonomiese, Kleinsake-ontwikkeling, Toerisme en Omgewingsake, om nie toe te laat dat die appèl slaag, en in werklikheid mafube Plaaslike Munisipaliteit te dwing om:
- Verskuif die Vaste Afvalterrein na 'n geskikte plek om verdere agteruitgang van die omgewing en besoedeling van die Wilgerivier te voorkom.
- Ontwikkel en bestuur 'n nuwe webwerf wat vir almal toeganklik sou wees.
- Fasiliteer werkskepping deur herwinning en komposmaak te fasiliteer.
- Sluit af en rehabiliteer die huidige terrein, om toegang tot, en vernuwe bestaande toerisme en ontspanning fasiliteite.

The scale of this response confirms to local officials that public opposition to the waste site expansion is substantial. I am finalizing a formal letter to DESTEA that incorporates our core arguments for site relocation and environmental rehabilitation. Legal counsel is currently reviewing our position to ensure our submission carries the necessary weight during the appeal process.

Kyk hoe lyk die o.a. die hoofstraat. Skande dat eienaars of huurders nie voor hulle winkels skoonmaak nie. Daar is enkele uitsonderings. Die hele vullisaangeleentheid en die hantering daarvan is 'n skande!!!!
The refuge management in our town is an absolute disgrace. Because there are no proper refuge disposal people are dumping houserefuge and waist EVERY WHERE. It does not matter from what area you approach the town the waist are every where it poses a serious threat to the environment and our health. It is poluting the whole area and eventually ends up in the River. SOMETHING needs tobe done
Close site which is not compliant. Open site which is accessible, compliant and create opportunities for recycling.
A clear indication that the Local Authority cannot fullfil its legally imposed obligations.
This site is unsuitable since it is too close to the Wilge River and will lead to further pollution of our scarce water sources.
