Some of you in the Film and Creative communities may have already heard that the 20th Century Fox studio research library (one of the very last, and definitely the best) is in danger of being lost forever by exec decisions to let it go. I\'m asking everyone with an interest in cinema and history to please sign this petition and ask Tom Rothman to step in and save the this wonderful and unique library.
The 85-year-old library is a priceless resource, a part of film history and our larger cultural heritage. You will find things in this library that you won\'t find anywhere else. There are books on what planes look like when they crash and how to recreate a black box, books with specific architectural visual reference photos, original articles about the sinking of the Titanic, clip files dating back to the 20
I am honestly overwhelmed by the stories you all have been sharing about how much this library means to our collective film history. The momentum here belongs entirely to the people who recognize that this archive is worth fighting for even when it feels like a long shot. I am currently reaching out to archives and institutions to see if we can find a permanent home for these materials.

I would like Disney to end its collaboration with 20th Century Studios before it reverts to its old name of 20th Century Fox as before.

I
I am a historian and researcher in Brazil, and I am writing about the singer and actress Carmen Miranda, 'The Brazilian Bombshell', who for seven years made ten films at TCFox. I do not need to write anything else for preservation.

My grandfather worked on the lot for years and always talked about how much knowledge was kept in those shelves. Keep it open.

Worked on a few projects that relied on these reference books. It would be a huge loss for the whole industry if they shut it down.
