Foster care is a very important
issue to fix in New Jersey. Our proposed
policy is to require more training hours for adults that want to be foster
parents. The current requirement is 27
hours in total for the training. Cosmetologists in New Jersey train more than
1200 hours to just do peoples hair, and nails.
Being a parent should require way more training that a
cosmetologist. Our idea is to increase
this requirement and change it into 100 hours in total. Each week should be mandatory for each adult
to complete ten full hours of training.
This will result in less abuse and starvation in foster homes, which
will hopefully increase adoption.
Our next policy is tracking all the
money that the state government provides to the foster home. This is important because some foster parents
are taking money that should be spent on the kid. The kids that receive this money have earned
it and they should spend it on themselves.
Please sign this petition and you could be part of the change.
100 hours isnt even enough really. these kids deserve better homes and proper care.
