Hello, we are students from Gruening Middle School and in our social studies class we're participating in a class project called Project Citizen. Project Citizen is a decision or action of any level of government that addresses problems and issues. For Project Citizen our class decided to make our policy ASD would formally support the Safe Families Alaska program through raising awareness to parents and students to prevent neglect and abuse in Alaska and training for staff.
In the past month OCS has received approximately 1,500 Protective Service Reports statewide that involved abuse and neglect and OCS has had about 3,000 children in foster care in Feb. 2016 . This can be prevented if ASD partnered with Safe Families Alaska to teach parents and kids to prevent abuse and neglect.
All we ask you is to sign this petition and support us as much as possible to make a better future.

I honestly did not think so many people would care about this project but the momentum is just wild and it feels like we are actually moving toward something real. People keep leaving such kind comments and I find myself reading them over and over because it is just so cool that you all see why this training is important.
