This is 1000% smart! Rent in fort mc was always so expensive and now is definitely not the time to be taking advantage of people misplaced from homes. It's a time to help and support one another however the government needs to step in as well and remember that the people who own the rentals also still have bills to pay as well!!! Stay strong fort mac

I was laid off before the fire an barely making it at 1900 a month ...... We lost everything so I had buy new furniture and clothes for three people , had to stay in hotels from time to time and all other expenses have been unbelievable !!! Now I can't go back to a place I miss so much an my son can't go back to school with his friends because the landlords want to raise the rent to extreme !!!!! It's not fair give your neighbours a chance to get on their feet a little bit instead of kicking us when we're already down !!!! Edmonton people were willing to do more for us then our own towns people are !!!! What should be a time of pulling people together an bringing people home is becoming a time of tearing them down even more then they already are and making it impossible for friends an families to live next to each other again !!!! I will sign this Petition but my personal Opinion is the government didn't give a damn about us during the fires an they won't give a damn about us now either !!!!

Would be nice to see everyone help each other and keep this community a place we can all afford to love to live in. I'm proud to be from Fort mcmurray, let's keep it a place to be proud of.

It is not right that rental properties take advantage of the situation, and people's suffering to profit. The local government or provincial, needs to step in.

People should not profit off of other people's tragedy. These people have lost everything and are in need of a safe place to stay and call home. Any assistance should be given, however landlords should not be raising their rent to cash in on the unfortunate situation.

Outrageous to raise rent . Going to be hard enough for people to move back home . Not to mention catch up on all there bills .

People with nothing will have a hard time getting ahead because some people have no models and will take advantage of the situation. Similar to when oil companies were paying out big LOA to contractors, locals couldn't afgird to live in the community. With insurance now paying the bill it will be the same.

We lost our home in the wild fires. We do have insurance but it is unknown how long it will take to rebuild and will need to rent in the Intrium.

Fort McMurray residents have been through enough during the past couple of years. Additional expenses thorugh unnecessary rent increases at this horrific time is NOT the way to help people.

When other towns in Alberta are giving free or very low housing ours are rising and not confirming a place as well some of the non refundable pet deposits of $500 per pet is outrageous when people risked their lives to reunite these pets with their owners, the govt needs to step in an actually help us
