I wanted to propose a 'FORMAL PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE' in these Student Union Elections 2019.

A debate amongst the contesting candidates , especially the presidential candidates amongst whom one of them will be soon leading the students' voices is the need of the hour and essential to stimulate and strengthen the process of democratic elections.

The students have a right to question the candidate's manifestos and agendas through a proper mode of questioning in a proper setting. When the candidates cannot put their agendas and manifestos on posters and charts , they must be allowed to put across their point through a conventional style of debating moderated by a moderator. This sense of formal debate is not only quintessential for our upcoming student union elections , but it will also inculcate the democratic spirit and trust amongst the law faculty voters , finally leading to an increase in the voter turnout.

By signing this petition , you are asking the college Adminstration of Law Centre -1 to organise a debate amongst the students contesting for the post of the President in a formal setting.

I have spent the last few days talking to fellow students who feel just as locked out of the process as I do. The administration has yet to acknowledge our request for a debate but the pressure we are building shows that we refuse to be ignored.

Seeing this level of support reminds me why I started this fight for transparency in Law Centre-1. It is heartening to know so many of you believe our future president deserves to face real questions before we cast our votes.

Yes this must be the right of a student and it brings transparency and enables a student to choose one of his desired candidate after listening to all the candidates menifesto

That would be a great way to actually get to know what our prospective students' unions' leaders are actually aspiring to achieve lest they get elected. And it could certainly propagate the Democratic process deeper into the citizens, which is a drastic need of the hour and could help in saving the standards of our free falling political discourse in the long run. Kindly sign this and share it with more students! Thanks.

There should a healthy presidential debate so that we can know better about the candidate's leadership and about his vision.

Yes, debate should be necessary before the election to know more about the candidates & their real manifestos and the process in which they would be working in the betterment of the student environment.

Presidential debates are a very first sign of democratic credentials of any students body election. So this must start.

Everyone can lead but everyone cannot be a leader. It requires sheer will to works for others. But how can we know that? We can perceive others when we listen to them. Presidential debate gives one such opportunity to assess the candidate. I see even educated are being segregated on the lines of caste, religion and region. Real education is the manifestation of the perfection which is already within us and it is beyond all such barriers. Hope a small but powerful change like presidential debate can lead to such manifestation which will remove those barriers to elect a better representative. I support Presidential debate!
