We the undersigned urge, in the name of safety and community tranquility, cautionary speed bumps be added to Euclid St., in Santa Monica, between Pico and Michigan. Animals have been killed on Euclid by speeding vehicles, and many car drivers perilously race down and up the street as a short-cut to and from busy Pico Blvd. The street is also dangerously unsafe for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
One of our cats was recently hit and killed by a car on Euclid St. in between Pico and Michigan. Besides the other neighborhood pets, there are plenty of kids who ride bikes and skateboards on this street. Drivers frequently exceed the safe speed limit on Euclid St. and endanger others. Speed bumps or humps need to be installed as soon as possible for the safety of the neighborhood's residents.

Years ago, folks tried to get the city to install speed bumps on Euclid between Michigan and Pico. It was before I lived here (30+ years ago) and from what I heard, a futile effort. City responses focused on the problems emergency vehicles (fire trucks, ambulances, police) had with speed bumps. At the same time, there were many city council members who enjoyed the benefit of speed bumps on their streets. It is very much past time for this part of Euclid Street to get relief from street racers, speeders, heavy trucks, motorcycles doing wheelies up the hill, construction vehicles, texters, and many of the above just taking Euclid instead of 14th so they could avoid the traffic light at Pico.

This speed bump will be saving lives. I stopped counting the number of times I’ve almost been run over crossing the street by speeding cars. This has got to stop. We also need horizontal parking on our street like they did on 12th

Stop destroying streets with impediments, in an effort to turn your neighborhood into a de facto gated community.
Don't move to a city and then try to bring it to a standstill because you don't like it, stealing from everyone else.

Sometimes people drive fast on Euclid. It’s dangerous for those who are taking a walk or kids playing around, or pets crossing streets.
