The Oregon and Washington Death with dignity Acts allow mentally competent, terminally ill adult state residents to voluntarily request and receive prescription medication to hasten their death. This is one of the many end-of-life care options available in Oregon and Washington.

Let's pass legislation to allow terminally ill adult residents in the state of Florida the same human freedom.

I am 49 yrs old and I have a very progressive form of ALS and I will eventually be suffering (sooner then later) due to this horrific, scarry terminal disease. How dare anyone tell me I that I don't have the right to end my suffering.

After watching my grandfather suffer through his last few weeks of life i always swore I would never watch anyone I love go through that again. I would never let myself go through that knowing my friends and family have to watch me suffer. Everyone should have the right to choose.

67 years old in perfect health. I will live my life with dignity and want to die with dignity when my time comes. The government wasn't involved in my conception or birth and should have no involvement in my last days and my final day.

My mother died from mesothelioma. She passed nearly two months after her diagnosis. She suffered tremendously in those two months. While I don't think she would have opted for this herself I believe that other people would. I believe they deserve that choice.

I support this much needed act. Having recently moved from Oregon, I am very familiar with the concept of death with dignity. This is a right that is supported by the Patient Self-Determination Act of 1990. I am surprised that there is not a strong support organization in Florida pursuing this right.

Everyone needs freedom and control to make such a choice as it gives great peace of mind.
